Meet the people behind the numbers.
Mark Dunker, CPA
Principal
With Grimbleby Coleman since 2008
Mark comes to us via the merger with Dunker & Aced, the CPA firm he started in 1970. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 1960 and has been a member of Cal Society of CPAs since 1964.
Mark’s career started with clients in small businesses, farmers and professionals such as medical doctors, dentists, attorneys and architects. Throughout his years of experience, Mark has developed abilities in estate planning and resolution of family conflicts/situations.
He’s involved in a number of organizations, including the North Modesto Kiwanis, the Congregation Beth Shalom and the UC Alumni Association.
On a typical Saturday in June, you’ll find Mark in the garden or out fishing. In the fall, he might be cheering on the Bears at a CAL football game. He also tries to escape to Seattle frequently to visit family.
Mark’s favorite number is 13. “It’s been my favorite number for so long I don't remember why.”

She holds a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting, an AA in computer information systems, and is working on becoming a CPA.
Outside of life at Grimbleby Coleman, Michelle is involved with several non-profit organizations by being a committee member or on the board. She also participates in the Relay for Life, and tutors accounting students at CSU Stanislaus.
Her typical way to spend a Saturday? In June, at swim meets and water polo games with her family. In October, studying for the CPA exam. And in January, getting ready for tax season.

She admires Orson Scott Card, Thomas Edison and Ben Franklin for their creativity and courage to “change the world as we know it.”
During her down time, she loves to go camping or just spend time at home.
Sheryl’s favorite number is 3. “It’s just the number I always picked as a kid.”
Gilbert A. Gonzalez

With Grimbleby Coleman since 2008
Gilbert has a BS in Accounting from CSU Stanislaus, has been in public accounting for over 10 years, and takes his job seriously. For Gilbert, his job means “giving our clients options when it relates to tax, providing information that will lead to better planning for the future … delivering a sense of trust and confidence that we will deliver what we promised and more.”
When he’s not working with clients, Gilbert is involved in the Turlock Youth Soccer Association.
On an average Saturday in June, you won’t find Gilbert here. He’ll be in the Monterey area with his family. In October, Gilbert is on the soccer field as an assistant coach or coach. But in January, it’s back to business, when Gilbert says he “might be at the office.”
Gilbert’s favorite number is 12. “My wife and my daughter were born in December.”
Galen D. Gray, CPA

With Grimbleby Coleman since 1991
As client service manager, Galen provides tax and accounting services to clients. He’s a CSU Stanislaus alum and a member of the AICPA and the CAL Society of CPAs. He’s in the right field because “I enjoy getting to know clients and helping them take care of their tax and accounting issues.”
When he’s not crunching numbers, Galen is a member of the Oakdale Kiwanis Club and volunteers in the club’s annual Golf tournament fundraiser and Christmas food basket project for the needy.
Galen admires three people for very different reasons “John Adams—he persevered in his pursuits and was instrumental in forming our country; Bill Cosby—I admire his common sense; and Johnny Carson—he could make people laugh.”
Regardless of season, on a Saturday you’ll usually find Galen in the Sierra Nevada mountains or San Francisco.
Galen’s favorite number is 9. “Because it is the number that makes up a team—baseball, of course.”
Karen Green
Administrative Assistant
With Grimbleby Coleman since 1990
Karen helps the partners at Grimbleby Coleman with scheduling, coordinating client luncheons, and organizing special events. So, she’s the one to butter up several weeks before your birthday.
When asked what she enjoys most about working with clients, Karen says, “Before I started working with Grimbleby Coleman, I was afraid of even the initials IRS. Now, I feel comfortable when clients are worried and scared. I can reassure them with confidence that we will assist them in whatever the issue might be.”
She’s active in several community programs and charities, including the Relay for Life Fundraiser and the children’s ministry at First Baptist Church. She also loves swimming and working in her yard.
Karen’s favorite number is 7. “For its significance of God's promise to us.”

Cynthia uses her skills to assist clients through the completion of projects that will ultimately bring value to the client by providing them with the tools necessary to meet their present needs and future goals. She graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a concentration in Accounting.

Deborah Guido
Administrative Assistant
With Grimbleby Coleman since 2009
Deborah is that pleasant voice you hear on the phone and offers the cheery smile that greets you when you walk in the front door. She has 30 years of experience in providing administrative support, primarily at the senior executive level. She is proud that the firm's clients "receive the highest standard of service from a fantastic team here at Grimbleby Coleman."
Deborah has the unique distinction of being named a "Powerseller" on eBay and has personally processed over 20,000 transactions with a 100% satisfaction rating from buyers.
She is involved with the Parents' Club at her children's school and helps out at church functions. (We bet her eBay prowess makes her especially popular helping with fundraisers or silent auctions.) She also adds to the firm's roster of musical talent and sings in the Christmas Choir during the holidays.
She admires Barbara Streisand 's singing voice and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's passion for his beliefs and his work on equal rights.
When it comes to numbers, Deborah is a fan of three because the "third time is the charm". She says three has always been her lucky number .

She says, “One client would bring in his checkbooks for me to do some bookkeeping and at times he would drop off a bag of Moss Rose cookies or a Pepsi wrapped in a paper towel so my hands would not get cold. Every client has a need and when you show them you really do care about their situation, no matter what it may be, there is a bond that forms.”
She admires Rosa Parks for her unwillingness to compromise no matter what the cost.
On a typical Saturday in June, you’ll find Terry enjoying nature at the beach or in the mountains. In October, she’ll be “sitting at home relaxing.” And in January, “Wishing it was April 16.”

Wanda J. Hooper
Office Manager
With Grimbleby Coleman since 1989
Wanda has been in accounting for nearly 37 years, 20 of those with Grimbleby Coleman. You might say she’s an accountant for a bunch of accountants—she handles the Grimbleby Coleman books and tax returns, as well as managing the office.
Because she doesn’t work directly with clients, Wanda misses “the relationship and friendships you develop handling the client's work. The trust they build in you is very rewarding.”
Hillary Clinton is a person Wanda admires. “With all she has been through in her marriage, she has only gotten better. She broke ground for many women in politics.” Wanda also admires Taylor Swift: “She is so young and yet so mature in her career.” And last—but certainly not least, Wanda admires her husband, Chuck (“not famous to anyone but me”). “He took on a ready-made family and became a great role model for our kids and our grandkids. He is the best dad, grandpa, and husband I could ever ask for.”
In June, you’ll find Wanda “taking care of our 2 granddaughters, playing in the pool or in the mud.” In October, Wanda is on vacation “anywhere,” and in January, she’s relaxing at home “to prepare for tax season.” Good plan!
Wanda’s favorite number is 16. “Because by the 15th of each month, I am done with billing, financial statements, and the tax deadline for the month."
Jane Johnson, MBA
Firm Administrator
With Grimbleby Coleman since 2004
After managing medical practices for nine years, Jane came over to manage “pretty much everything” at Grimbleby Coleman. Jane coordinates firm-wide functions on behalf of the partners and ensures that the firm is creating and refining systems, processes and tools to support the firm’s strategic direction. She oversees nine administrative team members.
Jane is currently the President of the Northern California Association for Accounting Administration, a group of CPA firm leaders around the country. Her talents go far beyond administration, as she is also a handbell choir member at the Modesto Covenant Church.
On most Saturdays, you’ll find Jane working in the yard, riding her bike, or spending time with family.
Jane’s favorite number is 22. “I started dating my husband on March 22, and we were married several years later on August 22. To this day, we have a contest to see who is the first to say ‘Happy Anniversary’ to each other on the 22nd of any given month.”
